Verwood and the Local Area

Beaumont House Bed and Breakfast is located in Verwood, Dorset.

Verwood is a town and civil parish in Dorset and lies approximately 15 miles north of Bournemouth and 19 miles north of Poole and 5 miles north-west of Ringwood.

A country market is held on Friday mornings in the Memorial Hall. The market sells locally produced seasonal vegetables and fruit, plants and cut flowers, homemade cakes and jams and craft items.

The town also has two shopping areas. One in the town centre, and the second being at Pennine Way.

Beaumont House Bed and Breakfast is ideally situated for exploring the Verwood area and the many attractions that both Dorset and Hampshire have to offer.

Local Attractions:

The Dorset Heavy Horse Centre and Farm Park offers a unique experience where you can mix the past with the present. It is in easy reach of Verwood on the road to Alderholt. Daily attractions include shows plus Free Heavy Horse Wagon, Tractor and Trailer and Miniature Pony & Cart Rides.

Avon Heath Country Park
Avon Heath Country Park takes its name from the very special heathland habitat in Dorset. Considerable conservation work goes on, involving the RSPB, to restore the heathland and enhance its value for wildlife.

Ringwood Forest
Ringwood Forest is extensive area of woodland and heathland. The forest can be explored either on bike or by foot. Ringwood Forest is also home to Moors Valley Country Park with its Steam Train Rides, Golf Course and many trail ways to follow, including the Play Trail, with wooden play structures along the way, and the Tree Top Trail – a wooden walkway through the tops of the trees.

The New Forest National Park
The New Forest National Park lies within the county of Hampshire, and is an area of exceptional natural beauty. Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst are just two of the popular New Forest towns to visit. There are many delightful walks in the New Forest but if you do not wish to drive, why not try the Ringwood Forest which is literally on our doorstep.

Knoll Gardens
Hidden away in a quiet corner of east Dorset is Knoll Gardens. Strolling around this secluded four-acre garden you'll discover rare and unusual trees and shrubs, quiet places of contemplation and dramatic focal points.

Priest's House Museum
The Priest's House is an historic town house dating from the 16th century. This Grade II listed building retains many original architectural features.

Kingston Lacy
Kingston Lacy is a magnificent mansion with important collections, set in attractive formal gardens and parkland.

For those guests who enjoy the British coastline, then a visit to the nearby Dorset towns of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole may be of interest. Bournemouth has 7 miles of golden sands, which have four Blue Flag awards. It also has excellent shopping facilities and a wide range of restaurants, night clubs and bars.

For those of you who appreciate cathedrals and historic cities, then both Salisbury and Winchester are definitely worth a visit during your stay.

If golf is of interest then the well known Ferndown golf course is close by, along with the Crane Valley Golf Course which is just to the west of Verwood.
